October 12, 2001, Newsletter Issue #47: Odd Airline Discounts

Tip of the Week

Bereavement Fares have been offered by most airlines for a while. They usually are extended for travel of immediate family members and require various methods of proof--hospital or funeral home phones, doctor`s name and number, etc. Call each airline directly for details.

Some airlines offer an "illness" fare--(you need to travel to visit your sick mother...)

If you need to travel with a medical assistant, American Airlines offers a Medical Caregiver Fare, which is 30% off for you and a registered nurse. Call 800-433-7300

Northwest/KLM give an Adoption Fare to parents bringing newly adopted children from overseas. Call 800-322-4162.

Almost all airlines will negotiate for groups of 10 or more passengers traveling together.

Always ask about the traditional discounts for children, seniors, or students, too!
